Aoraki Mount Cook National Park was established in 1953 to preserve it's vegetation and landscape along with reserves which had been established from the 1800s. The park is home to around 20 other peak which reach over the height of 3000 metres and the largest glaciers in New Zealand, 40 percent of the park is actually glaciered terrain.
Just over a week ago I returned from Mount Cook. Stood below it, surrounded in the Alps, snow, ice and clear skies. A group of friends and I all meeting for the first time took a road trip around the South Island and this was our first stop, my excitement grew the closer we got. I was beyond excited for everyone to see this mountain for the first time in their lives because not only is it beautiful but because it was my first time seeing this great mountain up close.
Sadly upon arriving at Hooker lake it was frozen so there no reflections to capture, only just another reason to go back for! Along our road trip i ticked off a lot bucket list adventures!
